Living What We Value

Living What We Value is a series exploring what it means to live faithfully as followers of Jesus. At Clovie, our core values are to Experience God, Create Community, and Reach Beyond. Together, we'll discover how these values are rooted in Scripture and how they shape the way we live, love, serve, and participate in God's mission.

Study Questions

Scripture Reading

  • Acts 1-2

Questions

“Do it again, Lord.”

The message began with Billy Graham praying, “Do it again, Lord, and would you do it again with me.” Where have you seen God at work in your own life or in the lives of others, and what are you hoping God might do again today?

Learning from Jesus’ rhythm of prayer

The Gospels repeatedly show Jesus withdrawing to pray before major decisions, after ministry, and during difficult seasons. What does your current rhythm of connecting with God look like, and what helps or hinders that rhythm?

Dependence on the Holy Spirit

The sermon suggested that “the mission of God depends on us depending on Him.” In what areas of your life or ministry are you most tempted to rely on your own strength rather than the Holy Spirit’s power?

Creating space to experience God

Rick Warren’s advice included daily, weekly, and annual rhythms of rest and renewal. Which of these practices do you find most challenging, and what practical step could you take this week to create more space for God?

Responding to Jesus’ invitation

Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” What burdens, distractions, or pressures are making it difficult for you to experience God right now, and how can the group pray for you?

Optional closing question:

If our church is going to be known for “Experiencing God,” what would that look like practically in our
homes, life groups, and community over the next year?

Scripture Reading

  • John 13:34-35, 1 John 4:7-21, Acts 2:42-47

Questions

Creating Community

  1. The early Christians were known for how deeply they loved Jesus and one another. If people observed our church, family, or small group today, what would they say stands out most about us?
  2. Acts 2 describes believers sharing their lives, time, resources, and possessions with one another. What are some practical ways we can move beyond simply attending church to genuinely participating in biblical fellowship?
  3. Fear of not having enough often leads people to hold tightly to their time, money, or possessions. What helps you trust God's provision and become more generous with what He has given you?
  4. The fellowship of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is described as a relationship marked by joy, generosity, peace, and self-giving love. Which of these qualities would you most like to see grow in your relationships, and what is one step you can take this week toward that goal?
  5. The Kingdom of Jesus operates very differently from the kingdoms of this world—power is expressed through serving rather than controlling. How does this understanding challenge the way we approach relationships, leadership, and community?
